Had the pleasure of going to see Jean-Michel Basquiat "The Radiant Child" and I must say... if you are in the LA area or even some what close... GO SEE IT. You have till this friday. Lame ass me didn't really know much about the genius kid, but now I want to know more. I was pleased with how much footage was shot of him painting, amazing to watch him work and try and think about what was going through his mind. I could go on and on about this film, but please just go see it. You won't be disappointed. Its showing at the Nuart Theatre in West LA
I just pre-ordered my DVD, a must have for my "sophisticated shelf"

First off I would like to thank Derek the intern for shooting the above piece. He did a killer job and just got himself a new client.
Things have been real busy around here. Slammed at the new job, and getting ready for a big show that I am headlining in August at Rothick Art Haus. Not to mention the 50 other things I can't seem to leave alone. So that is my excuse for the lack up updates on here. I promise I will get better at it as soon as things settle down a little.
I have started to do some random sketches that I plan on putting into a little zine for all my fans out there. You will be able to pick one up at my show in Aug. and then online after that.
Well I have already put myself behind.
Stay tuned.
One more reason why I love the iPhone... iTimelapse. I got this app about a week ago and I was pretty antsy to try it out, so I built an attachment of my phone, that way I could mount it on a tripod and then I found an old "Bird Creepier Outer" in my backyard and went to town on it.
Here is the outcome of my "Trial"
Stay tuned for many more videos and even a video page on the site.
Last Friday I spent all afternoon and night working on the final piece for my show at Curbside Gallery that was the next day. I just got a new program that will allow me to do way better time-lapse, so just consider this one a tease.
More images of the show coming soon.
Its about that time again. I will be back at one of my favorite galleries for another solo show this month. Curbside Gallery (the place where it all began) is the place to be this Saturday night May 15th. I have been trying new things this past couple months and am proud to show them at Curbside. Hope everyone can make it out. I have decided to give a little treat to everyone that shows up... so you better make sure I see you there.
Here is a little something sweet Curbside said about me :
It's that time of the month again, no not that time, time for another great art show at Curbside. I'm super happy to have Ryan back after the success of his first solo show last year. His new show "ART AND NONSENSE" finds Ryan really coming into his own as an Artist with work that I dare say is more mature, since he's been going more with what comes naturally instead of trying to come up with a theme or use a color palette. In talking to Ryan it reminds me of what one of the great sculptor's said and I think it was Rodin, who said "I just chip away at the pieces that don't need". This is a show not to be missed.
If you have been out for the art walk in awhile well the weather's warming up, Curbside's been expanded, and Ryan's super talented so now would be a good time. Hope to see you here.

First off I just want to thank everyone who came out to Gallery 212 last for my live painting. I can pretty much say it was like watching paint dry... But not in a bad way. It did take a little longer than thought but everyone was chatting and having a great time! The day was saved when a family friend (Russ) and my pops ran down the street and picked up a hair dryer, since I forgot mine in my other case. So thank you for that and I know everyone watching appreciated it too!
Some more photos are posted up on Gallery 212's facebook and our friends site ZEMOR (thanks Matt for coming out and snapping some pics)
Picture of the final piece after the jump.

I just released my latest print over at Unseen Beauty. This is a limited hand printed run of 14. I did a three color Gocco print this time but I also added a little handing painting to each print. The painting was to add the "who knows how it will look" aspect to each print. One of the main things I like about do prints is the organic feel to each one. I chose not to register any of the colors that I printed to give it that truly organic and unique look to each print.
The idea for the print came to me as I was wasting away in in front of my rather large TV one day. I caught myself wasting a whole day just sitting there in a daze. I looked at what I had done for the day and I had nothing to show. I quickly turned off the TV and started to draw. After this I thought about this subject a little more, the whole "Big Screen TV" craze that is going on right now. I am to blame for this also, but what I thought about more was how people are spending there whole life in front of these things. Kids don't go out and play anymore. My street has gone dead now a days when back in the day there was always someone outside doing something. Now I am not trying to rant and rave over here about how TV's are destroying our life and minds... I am just making an observation that I too was getting stuck in front of the TV and not even realizing the time I was wasting. The images on the prints are two TVs and two brains. The large brain is over the smaller TV, the small brain is over the large TV... I think you can understand the title of the print now, Modern Evolution. So that is that, this is my little reminder to myself to not get stuff for hours in front of my television and to not let life just pass by. Hope you all enjoy.
Here are some details about the print :

If you plan on sitting down in front of your boob tube here is a little recommendation from me to you. I just picked up the Beautiful Losers DVD. It is truly inspiring and it has been on repeat for the past 24 hours.
I was getting my daily fix of the DDC (Draplin Design Company) the other day when I saw an image of a well designed iPhone case done by draplin. Well this brought back my dream of having a case/s with some of my work on it. I scrolled down and read more and wondered how or who he knew to get a case made, when I then saw a link that made me grin ear to ear. One of Draplin's friends latest project is ingenious... custom cases with artwork that you can upload. I know you are thinking its has to cost and harm and a leg, you would be wrong for just 39.99 you can get a one of a kind case that will for sure make people notice you have the iPhone... cause thats what everyone wants and you know it. This site is so well designed that it only takes about 5 minutes to upload your artwork resize it to fit on the template that shows up and hit purchase. I now have the above case coming to me for a little self Xmas present. The only problem that I am foreseeing is that I am now going to have way to many phone cases, cause I am going to have to have one in every piece of work that I do from now on. New case for everyday of the week??
First off, just wanted to say sorry for the lack of posts lately. Life has been real busy, but in a good way. Lots of art coming out of the studio and more to come. Most pieces coming out right now are for the "Better in threes" show coming up. (see flyer in previous post) Real excited about this show, working with 2 other great artists and friends Cody "Mustachio" Lusby & Industry Giant. We just confirmed that we will be doing a large collaboration / live painting at the show, it's going to be fun. Hope everyone can join us for a good pre-thanksgiving party.
Stay tuned for some sample pictures.
